RECOGNITION

Under the name RECOGNITION, I explore how places become meaningful through memory, identity and culture. Using maps, I reduce locations to their essential forms, relying on recognition rather than detail to reveal the personal and collective significance attached to them.

I map Berlin’s LGBTQ+ spaces, exploring how clubs, bars, galleries, and meeting places have helped shape identities and expressions of masculinity. The work recognises these locations not simply as buildings, but as places where culture is created and sustained.
