Emotionality is the red thread running through his images. People share their vulnerable sides with him, their passion, their homes. Each photograph becomes an
intimate exchange, a silent dialogue between artist and subject.

Many of Phoenix’s subjects are transgender, as he himself, his work gently reveals the what connects us all, the search for belonging, for tenderness, for being who we are.
Through his lens, he captures people not as categories, but as moments of honesty,
resilience, and grace. His portraits remind us that every person carries light and shadow, and in understanding both, we find each other.
