this photocollage expresses the oppression over gay men within the 3 monotheist religions and the and the taboo over men sexuality.
The triptych was exhibited facing the art work ” L’origine de la guerre ” by the French artist Orlan responding to ” L’origine de la guerre ” by ” l’origine de la vie ” men not only the oppressor but men are also the origin of life.
This art work express the religion’s oppression. Focusing on the gay men abuse under the label of righteousness. The male sexuality being the symbol of oppression instead of being the symbol of love. Men’s sexuality is misunderstood leading to all the taboo and violence around the gay men.
3 poems in French were written on each piece of the triptych by the artist after making a photocollage on a canvas. To express the power of the words, the artist expressed his feelings by the gesture of writing. an abstract calligraphy in a strong gesture in action to express the power by the intent to write words. Words are as powerful and as painful as the physical violence against gay men. This action calligraphy on the art work was expressed using ecoline expressing the gensture of writing with the 3 primal colors. Red, Yellow and Blue.
