The World of Stor Dubiné: The DUBBYBEARS SERIES
Starting from the concept of the teddy bear as a reliable friend and trusted companion of children, Stor Dubiné has created the DUBBYBEARS, a series of teddy bears of celebrities who are just such friends and companions for their fans.
The basis is a minimalist basic form of the teddy, which is adapted to the habitus and style of the respective star and reflects his personality. In addition to the two-dimensional graphics, the series also includes, in part, three-dimensional textile versions – quasi Pop Art cuddly toys.
The Dubbys represent a personal selection of the artist. The depicted stars are without exception legendary protagonists from the world of popular music, who had and have a great influence on Stor Dubiné. For example, it was by means of Donna Summer, whose voice he could understand well despite his hearing impairment, that he first gained access to the universal language of music. Later, the music of David Bowie, Elton John, Blondie (Debbie Harry) and other legends.
The first edition was dedicated to, for example, Elton John, Mike Tyson, Conchita Wurst, Netta Berzalai, Grace Jones, Jose Carreras, Udo Lindenberg, Nena, Harald Glööckler, Klaus Wowereit, Judy Winter, Romy Haag, Dunja Hayali, Desirée Nick and others, who were also presented with a print and/or a teddy by Dubiné on various occasions.
