Jakob Margit Wirth

Jakob Margit Wirth is an artist, activist, and PhD candidate in artistic research with a background in public art and sociology. They work in public space, adapting their artistic language processually to context and theme, using performance, video, social practice, and guerrilla interventions. Their practice intertwines art with politics and everyday realities by hijacking systems, questioning norms, and parasitizing structures for collective purposes.
Wirth is co-founder of the cultural collectives Die Blaue Blume e.V., Operation Himmelblick, and the project space Make-up in Berlin. Their work spans non-institutional public spaces (Chicago, Berlin, Madrid, Santa Cruz, Copenhagen) and institutions like Architecture Biennial Chicago, Gorki Theater, Museum Worpswede, and Münchner Kammerspiele.
They have taught at Bauhaus University Weimar, Humboldt University Berlin, Kunsthochskolen Holbæk, and Agogis Zürich. Founder and editor of the Parasite Art Magazine and guest editor for Kunstforum International. Their work has been featured in major media, and received international awards including the Mart Stam Prize (2022), Born to be Bauhaus (2020) and the German Mobility Award (2021).
