Thumbnail L – (con)temporary by Björn Berg
is an ongoing series exploring the aesthetics and impermanence of “fast art”.
Inspired by digital preview icons, the works are thermal-prints on sensitive paper — images that begin to fade as soon as they appear. Light, heat, and time become part of the process.
Silver-leafs and/or nail polish reference both, the literal thumbnail and pop-surface-culture, turning each piece into a unique object between body, image, and memory.
Small formats (e.g. 6×6) echo the preview. Large (e.g. 20×30) ones disrupt it — the fleeting becomes monumental.
The series shifts, fades, invites to feel touch and time. It is nearly impossible to stop the decomposition process.
