This time presenting a series of vinyl figures, is like the embodiment of the artist’s childhood memories. Exploring experiences he made in his early life and capturing them in a childlike way, the idea for this series was to create works in the form of toy dolls. In doing so, Stor reveals his appreciation and admiration for singers or artists who marked milestones of his personal growth, artists who somehow allowed him to discover his inner world and explore it on canvas or through art in general.
This series is part of a personal experiment, rendering famous personalities by painting or moulding with putty on objects or figures and carefully adding diverse accessories by way of artistic re- and upcycling. Using minimalist white vinyl monkey-like figures, 18 cm (7 inches) tall, as starting point, Stor analyses the characters’ traits, styles and colours and selects matching materials, often leftovers from other work that he will combine in a unique fashion in order to develop his vision of the respective personality.
This is how Stor Dubiné, listening to music by his favourite artists while working on each project, is inspired to create upcycled as well as recyclable pieces of art.
