“Am I” is the first work in a series of puppy drawings that explores not just the kinky aesthetics of the famous costume but also the everyday culture of sex pics as a language of fantasies, self-imagery, and desire for acceptance of men by other men. How do men present themselves in front of a camera or other men? Is this a moment of seduction or a commemoration of loneliness? Is this man more exposed and vulnerable when he is naked, holding his flaccid cock, or is he more hidden behind his mask and through the lens of his smartphone. That man is now facing his phone, glazing into the lens behind his puppy mask, and while he reaches for the camera’s button, he’s asking himself – Am I?
